Anatomy of a Soul

  • The Brain.

"Our desires stem from our souls while our minds decide what actions to take in order to achieve our desires"

Mind and soul are two related concepts yet very distinct from one another. They both come from the inner part of a human being, his brain.

The soul is the incorporeal essence of humankind. It decides how man behaves and it is an eternal part of our being. The soul could be synonymous with the mind due to the fact that one can learn about the soul by studying the human brain where our minds are located.

The mind is man’s faculty of thinking, reasoning, and applying knowledge. Human consciousness starts in the brain and is manifested through man’s thoughts, actions, emotion, will, memory and imagination. The mind, on the other hand, is used to refer to the individual’s thought process of reason and consciousness.

Dreams, imaginations, hallucinations, delusions, emotions, thoughts are all from your brain, but you can’t have them without a soul in your body.

  • The Heart.

“The heart has reasons that reason cannot know.”

The heart is more than a physical pump that sustains life and it is not open to rationality, reason or logic.

Heart is feeling. The feeling arises for no reason, if one looks for a reason he cannot find any. The heart itself does not know the reason for the feeling as heart cannot know only knowing can know.

The world is knowing and feeling of knowledge.

  • The Lungs.

"Life begins and ends with a single breath."

The lungs are the main organs of respiration. This is where we receive individual life, so we can say that the lungs have a direct relationship with life, with the desire to live. Also with death since it is always lived in respiratory terms: "I breathe my last breath"
They symbolize the vital breath, contact, freedom, exchange, communication, sadness and sorrows of the past.

Breathing is living as we understand it. It’s the proof of being alive. Since the day we’re born to the last departure what remains constant in our lives is this moving air. It’s the evidence of our existence. It’s our eternal companion throughout the journey on this wonderful planet.
With each breath we inhale, we take in a chance, hope that keep us alive, while exhaling, we can throw out the negativity, grudge, pain and affliction. Taking in air and throwing it out is not only a process that’s what living is!

  • The Eye.

"Eyes are the windows of our soul"

Emotions and thoughts are recognized through eyes. They will take you to the core of an individual because the sight and the gaze are close to our mind and consciousness more than the other senses. For this reason, they express a component we are aware of.
To seek inside someone's eyes is to interact on a personal level most persons feel uncomfortable about allowing. The eyes will tell the full story, even when the individual refuses to. Even a small change in our body, attitude, and emotions are revealed via our eyes.

Eyes are the mirror of our feelings. They reflect the true us. If you are excited and elated, the size of your eyes gets enhanced by four times. If you are experiencing negative emotions, the size of pupil shrinks. If you are surprised, eyes get widened and if you are sad, your eyes appear blank.

They are the most beautiful part of our body which doesn't even utter a word but still speaks alot!

  • The Ribs.

"Broken ribs are about life being more than we can handle."

The ribs are one of the most important bones in the human body. They surround and protect the organs in the chest, lungs and heart, so they are like your sentinels, guarding your inner being.

The ribs hold spiritual significance too. The heart region represents the emotions; the lungs area represents the relationship with the outside, and rib pain represents your boundaries. When your personal space is invaded, you experience pain or other pressure on the rib cage. It means that there are times that you need to adapt to some changes and take some steps to adjust to your boundaries.

  • The Neurons.

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.” – Carl Sagan

A neuron in the brain is juxtaposed with clusters of galaxies and their filaments are connected of matter and dark matter. The resemblance is clear. The implication? You may have an entire universe in your head.

The human brain is literally one of the most complex structures known in the Universe, which is itself the greatest of all complexity. Your brain has billions neurons. Neurons are also networked, communicating to each other. There are trillion connections between neurons forming the neural network that creates who you are.

Our bodies are literally made of stars. We are made of the ashes of the stars. A whole universe of connections is in your mind (a universe within a universe) and one capable of reaching out to the other that gave rise to it. Billions of neurons touching billions of stars, surely spiritual.

We are made of atoms forged in the stars.

  • The Spine.

“Our spines are the conduit of consciousness”

Just as you have a physical body, you also have an energy body, and your spine is the superhighway of that energy body. All things seen and unseen are clung together here. Blood, nervous energy, awareness, sensation, all travel both ways, from the lowest to the highest and viceversa.

The spine is the axis of our being. The embryo in the womb first creates the central spinal axis and then the body grows around this axis, the axis of our individual world. We then spend the rest of our life with our spine “behind” us. We face the world and all of life moves from back to front, from the spine into the world.
Also, It is the basis of our individual consciousness because the nerve cells within the spine carries the nerve signals that are essential to withstand our waking, dreaming, sleeping and other states of being.

  • The Soul

"No matter how many times we burst into flames, we can always rise from the ashes"

The SOUL is the essence of a human being, symbol of one's individuality & their connection to the universe.

The inner fire of SOUL is an invisible eternal flame that never goes out. If you light a candle, you can see the physical flame. But you can't see the soul of the flame. Whatever the flame illuminates is illuminated by the soul of the flame & not the flame itself which is the physical source.

The Phoenix is a symbol of our immortal SOUL, a bird that emerges from the aftermath of fire from its ashes. It is a symbol of resurrection, eternal life, endurance & immortality. It represents perseverance, in spite of the expected opposition & blockade towards its goals. It goes on, gallant & confident. Unwavering in its struggle towards the accomplishment of its mission. It asks us to keep up the human spirit. It states over & over that death isn’t the end & that the SOUL is always indestructible.
